WRITERS PLAYGROUND 2026

A FESTIVAL OF NEW TEN-MINUTE PLAYS

SEPTEMBER 4, 2026 at 7pm
Bobbie Olson Theater at the Sharon Playhouse

Associate Producers

It All Starts With The Writer. With The Words.

This year, Sharon Playhouse’s Writers Playground takes on an exciting new life, shifting the spotlight from performance to the playwright—and inviting audiences inside the creative process.

Featuring original ten-minute plays by local writers, each piece will be presented as a staged reading by a repertory company of six local actors, allowing the writing itself to take center stage.

Following the readings, audiences will be invited into a lively moderated conversation about the plays—giving our playwrights valuable feedback and theatergoers a rare insider’s look at how new theater begins to find its way from the page to the stage.

Funny, moving, unexpected, and perhaps still a little rough around the edges—that’s the point! Writers Playground is about discovery, experimentation, and the thrill of watching something new take shape.

Michael Kevin Baldwin and Carl Andress serve as Festival Supervisors, with the staged readings directed by Carl Andress. Mallory Jane Weiss returns as Playwright Mentor, working with the playwrights as dramaturg throughout the development process.

Come celebrate the creative process, support local writers, and experience where every piece of theater begins: with the words.
