FALL CLASSES

  • The Sharon Playhouse welcomes everyone, young and old, to explore the magic of the performing arts through classes and intensives offered throughout the school year.

    Timeline:

    • Fall Semester (7 weeks)

      • The Fall semester of classes runs from the beginning of October through mid-November. Registration for the Fall semester happens in September.

    • Winter Workshops

      • In January and February we offer a handful of Winter Workshops, including masterclasses, camps, and special events. Registration for Winter Workshops happens in December.

    • Spring Semester (7 weeks)

      • The Spring semester of classes runs from mid-March through the beginning of May. Registration for the Spring semester happens in February.

HOW TO REGISTER:

  • Open the class below you’d like to attend and “click here to register” to submit your payment.

  • Once payment is received a confirmation email will be sent which includes a registration form to collect your information.

  • Registration is NOT complete until the Playhouse receives both your payment and completed registration form.

CLASS POLICY: All class fees are final and non-refundable once payment has been made.

Please follow the age requirements when enrolling - students must be within the indicated age bracket by the date of the first class.

    Instructors: Sarah Cuoco and Alec Sisco

    Get ready for a thrilling musical adventure where your little ones can sing, dance, and shine! In this 7-week journey, kids will dive into the world of musical theater, learning catchy songs and fun dance moves from their favorite shows. Co-taught by a fabulous director/choreographer (Sarah Cuoco) and music director (Alec Sisco), each session is packed with excitement and creativity, designed to spark a love for performing. The grand finale? A fun sharing in The Bok at The Sharon Playhouse, where our young stars will show off their new skills in a special showcase for family and friends. It’s the perfect way to start telling stories through song and dance in a super fun, supportive environment!

  • Saturdays: October 4, 11, 18, 25, November 1, 8, 15; 2:30-4:30 PM

    Instructors: Michael Kevin Baldwin and Alec Sisco

    Step into the spotlight with this exciting 7-week workshop designed for young performers aged 9-14! In this high-energy program, students will dive into the world of musical theater, honing their skills in acting, singing, and dancing. Each session is packed with creative activities that build confidence, teamwork, and stage presence, all while having a blast! Guided by Education Director Michael Kevin Baldwin (FDR in Annie)  and local musician and educator Alec Sisco (Fluke in Million Dollar Quartet), students will work on dynamic scenes, catchy songs, and lively dance numbers from popular musicals. The grand finale is a thrilling showcase in front of an audience, where students will shine as they share their hard work and talent with family and friends. Whether your child is a seasoned performer or new to the stage, this class is the perfect place to develop their passion for theater in a fun, supportive environment!

  • Monday: October 13; 9:30 AM -3:30 PM

    Instructors: Sarah Cuoco and Alec Sisco

    When school is out, The Sharon Playhouse is in! This specialized 1-day camp is packed with theater games, vocal training, heart-pumping choreography, and dynamic acting exercises—all led by Sharon Playhouse educators Sarah Cuoco and Alec Sisco. The day will culminate in a special sharing where students can showcase their newfound skills for family and friends. Don’t miss this chance to dive into the performing arts and make the most of your day off with us!

  • Tuesdays: October 7, 14, 21, 28, November 4, 11, 18; 7:00-9:00 PM

    Instructor: Ricky Oliver

    Sharpen your acting instrument and ignite your passion for storytelling in our immersive Scene Study class! This course, taught by one of Sharon Playhouse’s fabulous teaching artists, Ricky Oliver (Mr. Paravicini in The Mousetrap), offers a unique opportunity to dissect, explore, and breathe life into powerful scenes from a diverse range of plays. You will be assigned a scene that aligns with your interests and goals, be it classical drama, contemporary comedies, or thought-provoking new plays. Throughout the seven-week process, you will work alongside dedicated scene partners and a supportive instructor, fostering trust and vulnerability for truthful performances. New and returning students alike are encouraged to enroll and continue building their craft. The semester will culminate with a final presentation in which you will share your honed skills and newfound understanding of character with your peers and invited guests.

  • Wednesdays: October 8, 15, 22, 29, November 5, 12, 19; 6:00-7:00 PM

    Instructor: Sarah Cuoco

    This beginner tap class is designed for joyful movers who are curious to explore the rhythm and magic of tap dancing. Warm-up exercises will get you energized and ready to tap, while fun routines will enhance your coordination, balance, and rhythm. No prior experience needed, just a spark of enthusiasm and a smile. This is more than just a class, it's a community! Join us for an hour of laughter, learning, and tapping your night away. All levels of experience are welcome!

  • Thursdays: October 9, 16, 23, 30, November 6, 13, 20; 6:30-9:00 PM

    Instructor: Julie Retzlaff

    Spark your inner Shakespeare and craft your own 10-minute masterpiece in this dynamic playwriting course! Join Julie Retzlaff for this in-person Playwriting experience that will explore the building-blocks of theatrical writing in order to craft your own 10-minute play. Explore ideation, character-building, and plot mastery – the secret ingredients of captivating plays. Workshop your scenes in a supportive environment, receiving expert feedback, and honing your craft. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a curious newcomer, this course is for you!

  • Friday, October 17; 6:30 PM

    Hosts:  Michael Kevin Baldwin and Andrus Nichols

    Join local theater makers, Michael Kevin Baldwin and Andrus Nichols, for an evening of reader’s theater! Participants will partake in a table read of Joseph Kesselring’s darkly comic classic Arsenic and Old Lace! Roles will be assigned and shared on the evening of the reading with the goal of breathing life into this timeless classic. Play Soiree promises to be an incredibly fun experience -  rich with community bonding, social engagement, and artistic expression. Cashbar will be open, and complimentary snacks will be available for all participants!
