2026 Spring Classes

Explore the magic of the performing arts at The Sharon Playhouse through a variety of classes this spring! No matter your age or experience, find the best classes for you and discover your passion for theatre!

CLASS POLICY: All class fees are final and non-refundable once payment has been made.

Children must meet the listed age requirements by the first day of class. Please check before enrolling.

  • The Sharon Playhouse welcomes everyone, young and old, to explore the magic of the performing arts through classes and intensives offered throughout the school year.

    Timeline:

    • Fall Semester (7 weeks)

      • The Fall semester of classes runs from the beginning of October through mid-November. Registration for the Fall semester happens in September.

    • Winter Workshops

      • In January and February we offer a handful of Winter Workshops, including masterclasses, camps, and special events. Registration for Winter Workshops happens in December.

    • Spring Semester (7 weeks)

      • The Spring semester of classes runs from mid-March through the beginning of May. Registration for the Spring semester happens in February.

    Examples of Classes for Teens and Adults:
    Beginner Tap, Intermediate Tap, Theater Jazz, Mindful Movement, Performing the Monologue, Scene Study, Shakespeare, Acting the Song, Sing How You Speak, The Actor’s Gym, Acting for Television and Film, Improv, How to Audition for a Play, How to Audition for a Musical, Playwriting, Adult Comedy Night, Play Soiree

    Examples of Intensives:
    1-Day Performing Arts Camps
    Masterclass in Theater Confidence with Broadway actor and playwright Douglas Lyons
    Masterclass in Sound Design with Tony-nominated Sound Designer Dan Moses Schreier

HOW TO REGISTER:

  • Open the class below you’d like to attend and “click here to register” to submit your payment.

  • Once payment is received, a confirmation email will be sent which includes a registration form to collect your information.

  • Registration is NOT complete until the Playhouse receives both your payment and completed registration form.

Please follow the age requirements when enrolling - students must be within the indicated age bracket by the date of the first class.

    Movement & Music for Munchkins is a playful, developmentally focused class where children sing, move, and explore rhythm through fun songs, creative movement, and colorful props (scarves, shakers, etc.). Kids develop gross motor skills, musicality, and confidence while enjoying cooperative games and imaginative play. Caregivers are warmly encouraged to participate, making this a joyful, community-building introduction to music and dance.

  • Saturdays: March 28, April 4, 11, 18, 25, and May 2, 9; 12:30-2:00 PM

    Instructors: Sarah Cuoco and Tamra Stephenson

    Get ready for a thrilling musical adventure where your little ones can sing, dance, and shine! In this 7-week journey, kids will dive into the world of musical theater, learning catchy songs and fun dance moves from their favorite shows. Co-taught by a fabulous director/choreographer and music director, each session is packed with excitement and creativity, designed to spark a love for performing. The grand finale? A fun sharing in The Bok at The Sharon Playhouse, where our young stars will show off their new skills in a special showcase for family and friends.

    In this high-energy program, students will dive into the world of musical theater, honing their skills in acting, singing, and dancing. Each session is packed with creative activities that build confidence, teamwork, and stage presence, all while having a blast! Guided by Sharon Playhouse teaching artists Michael Siktberg and Tamra Stephenson, students will work on dynamic scenes, catchy songs, and lively dance numbers from popular musicals. The grand finale is a thrilling showcase in front of an audience, where students will shine as they share their hard work and talent with family and friends. Whether your child is a seasoned performer or new to the stage, this class is the perfect place to develop their passion for theater in a fun, supportive environment!

  • Mondays: March 23, 30, April 6, 13, 20, 27 and May 4; 6:30-9:00 PM

    Instructor: Julie Retzlaff

    Spark your inner Shakespeare and craft your own theatrical masterpiece in this dynamic playwriting course! Join Julie Retzlaff for this in-person artistic experience that will explore the building-blocks of theatrical writing in order to craft your own play. Explore ideation, character-building, and plot mastery – the secret ingredients of captivating plays. Workshop your scenes in a supportive environment, receiving expert feedback, and honing your craft. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a curious newcomer, this course is for you!

  • Tuesdays: March 24, 31, April 7, 14, 21, 28, and May 5; 7:00-9:00 PM

    Instructor: Ricky Oliver

    Deepen the work begun in Studying the Scene with Ricky Oliver by investigating a full‑length play from table work to staged presentation. In a small ensemble, actors will analyze a chosen text, develop character through text and movement, and explore staging, physical life, and ensemble dynamics under guided direction. Classes begin with script analysis, progress to blocking and scene work, and conclude with an on‑book presentation for the community. This intensive is ideal for actors ready to dive further into their process, collaborate closely with a director and committed ensemble, and gain practical experience sustaining a role across a full play.

    Prerequisite: Completion of Ricky Oliver’s Studying the Scene class, or equivalent experience. Admission to this class is based on an application process, allowing our team to assess each student's readiness for the material and pace of the class. Once your application has been submitted, the Sharon Playhouse team will review it and follow up regarding placement and payment details. Applications due by Friday, March 20, 2026.

    Application: Advanced Studying the Scene Application

  • Wednesdays: March 25, April 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, and May 6; 6:30-7:30 PM

    Instructor: Kristine Waterman

    This beginner tap class is designed for joyful movers who are curious to explore the rhythm and magic of tap dancing. Warm-up exercises will get you energized and ready to tap, while fun routines will enhance your coordination, balance, and rhythm. No prior experience needed, just a spark of enthusiasm and a smile. This is more than just a class, it's a community! Join us for an hour of laughter, learning, and tapping your night away. All levels of experience are welcome!

  • Thursdays: March 26, April 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 and May 7; 7:00-9:00 PM

    Instructor: Michael Kevin Baldwin

    Join us for a dynamic new class where teens and adults unleash creativity and build confidence! Over seven engaging sessions, you’ll dive into theater games, improvisation, and writing exercises that energize mind and body. Each class encourages you to take up space, speak boldly, and express yourself while sharpening your comedic instincts. We’ll start with playful prompts that spark original material, then refine and rehearse our creations together, strengthening collaboration along the way. The journey culminates in a special presentation for family and friends, featuring the pieces we’ve developed as an ensemble.   • Friday, April 24; 6:30 PM

    Hosts: Michael Kevin Baldwin and Andrus Nichols

    Join local theater makers, Michael Kevin Baldwin and Andrus Nichols, for an evening of reader’s theater! Participants will partake in a table read of Arthur Miller’s compelling drama All My Sons. Roles will be assigned and shared on the evening of the reading to breathe life into this classic text. Play Soiree promises to be an incredibly fun experience - rich with community bonding, social engagement, and artistic expression. A cash bar will be open, and complimentary snacks will be available for all participants!
