ON-SITE CLASSES

  • The Sharon Playhouse welcomes everyone, young and old, to explore the magic of the performing arts through classes and intensives offered throughout the school year.

    Timeline:

    • Fall Semester (7 weeks)

      • The Fall semester of classes runs from the beginning of October through mid-November. Registration for the Fall semester happens in September.

    • Winter Workshops

      • In January and February we offer a handful of Winter Workshops, including masterclasses, camps, and special events. Registration for Winter Workshops happens in December.

    • Spring Semester (7 weeks)

      • The Spring semester of classes runs from mid-March through the beginning of May. Registration for the Spring semester happens in February.

HOW TO REGISTER:

  • Click the button below the class you’d like to attend and submit your payment.

  • Once payment is received a confirmation email will be sent which includes a registration form to collect your information.

  • Registration is NOT complete until the Playhouse receives both your payment and completed registration form.

Proof of vaccination and masks will not be required for students participating in classes at The Sharon Playhouse. The wearing of masks will be optional.  Please follow the age requirements when enrolling - students must be within the indicated age bracket by the date of the first class.

CLASS POLICY: Once you pay for any class there are NO REFUNDS.

  • MOVEMENT FOR MUNCHKINS
    YOUTH (AGES 3-5)
    SATURDAYS: MARCH 23, 30, APRIL 6, 13, 20, 27, MAY 4

    INSTRUCTOR: TRICIA DESARIO

    Movement for Munchkins is designed to align with the developmental milestones of children ages 3-5 years. Led by Tricia DeSario, an instructor with a background in early childhood development and dance, our 7-week program focuses on nurturing both language development and motor skills through fun songs and movement! Egg shakers, scarves, parachute play and more will be used to facilitate creative movement and socialization among our Munchkins as we gather for circle time songs, interactive story-telling, and explore different movement concepts together. Grownups are warmly encouraged to join their Munchkin in a shared experience of creating community while supporting your preschoolers' development with dance moves they’ll come to know and love! Students are encouraged to also sign up for Music for Munchkins, and will be supervised by teaching artists during the transition from 10:45-11:00 AM.

    Introduce your 3, 4, and 5-year-olds to the power and joy of music-making. Music for Munchkins will build on your child's natural enthusiasm for music and will provide a strong foundation for future instruction in singing, dance, and/or instrument study. This class will be a joyful opportunity for youngsters to come together and make music, all while learning the basics of rhythm and sound. Students are encouraged to also sign up for Movement for Munchkins, and will be supervised by teaching artists during the transition from 10:45-11:00 AM.

    Calling all tiny thespians and drama dreamers! Creative Theatrics is throwing open the curtain on a world of playful pretend, silly songs, and imagination explosions! New friends, big laughs, and endless creativity await! Students are encouraged to also sign up for Creative Movement, and will be supervised by teaching artists during the transition from 4:30-4:45 PM.

  • SINGING 101

    Join musician and local voice teacher, Beckie Wallace, for The Sharon Playhouse's group vocal class, Singing 101! Beckie offers an approachable technique to healthy singing that focuses on developing well-rounded musicianship and mindful vocal production. Classes will feature vocal warm ups, ensemble singing, and solo singing, all helping to strengthen your individual skill set. You'll also receive tips on how to succeed in your future singing auditions! All levels of experience are welcome! This is a great class to pair with Dancing 101 and/or Acting 101!

    Dive into multiple elements of play-making through a guided and fun collaborative process! This theatrical journey will include dramaturgy/script analysis, directing, lighting/sound design, and performance. Sink your teeth into powerful monologues and captivating scenes - handpicked to stretch your emotional range and spark your imagination. Each participant will be encouraged to embrace playful exploration and a deep, focused, rehearsal process. A script, a group of imaginative artists, some lights, and an audience is all you need! This seven week course will result in a "workshop style” production for public sharing.

  • CHOREOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

    Ever dream of calling the shots like Beyoncé's choreographer or seeing your moves in a music video? In this electrifying workshop, unleash your inner dance boss and create your own hip-hop masterpiece alongside Kimiye Corwin! Warm up with killer hip-hop basics and other funky moves that'll get your body groovin'! Brainstorm epic themes and movement ideas with your fellow dancers to build a showstopping group piece that will blow everyone away! Family members and friends are welcome to come to a viewing of what is created in the last 20 minutes of class. No experience needed, just the love for music, movement, and making something awesome with your squad!

    When school is out, The Sharon Playhouse is in! Spend part of your spring break with the Playhouse education power-duo of Michael Kevin Baldwin and Sarah Cuoco, along with local voice teacher Beckie Wallace, for an invigorating day of theater fun! This specialized 1-day camp will include theater games, vocal training, heart-pumping choreography, and acting exercises, all led by three professional Teaching Artists. You won’t want to miss this jam-packed day celebrating the performing arts!

    This intensive 7-week course dives into the real world of TV and Film acting, led by Caroline Kinsolving, an actress with over 20 years experience on stage and screen. Learn the secrets of navigating set life, develop the skills and presence to captivate the lens, and gain invaluable knowledge from both sides of the camera. Students will be assigned scenes from TV and Film and will develop the skills and insights needed to act in front of the camera.     Sharpen your acting instrument and ignite your passion for storytelling in our immersive Scene Study class! This course, taught by one of Sharon Playhouse’s fabulous new Teaching Artists, Ricky Oliver, offers a unique opportunity to dissect, explore, and breathe life into powerful scenes from a diverse range of plays. You will be assigned a scene that aligns with your interests and career goals, be it classical drama, contemporary comedies, or thought-provoking new plays. Throughout the seven-week process, you will work alongside dedicated scene partners and a supportive instructor, fostering trust and vulnerability for truthful performances. The semester will culminate with a final presentation in which you will share your honed skills and newfound understanding of character with your peers and invited guests.

    Join the director of Oliver!, Michael Kevin Baldwin, and the director of Our Town, Andrus Nichols, for an evening of reader’s theater. Participants will partake in a table read of Reginald Rose’s powerful play Twelve Angry Jurors. Roles will be assigned and shared on the evening of the reading with the goal of breathing life into this timeless classic. Play Soiree promises to be an incredibly fun experience - rich with community bonding, social engagement, and artistic expression. The bar will be open, and one free drink is included!
