WHEREAS, the Sharon Playhouse in Sharon, Connecticut has strived to bring entertainment and enlightenment to the Northwest Corner region of the state for the past 60 years; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the theater, in addition to entertaining, is to be a beacon of education for the entire Litchfield community and beyond; and
WHEREAS, the significance of the Sharon Playhouse should not be forgotten, nor neglected in the history of theater in Connecticut; and
WHEREAS, the building and creation of the Sharon Playhouse is a testament to the vision of Judson Phillips to establish a permanent home for theater and the arts in the town of Sharon and its environs; now
THEREFORE, I, Ned Lamont, Governor of the State of Connecticut, do hereby proclaim Friday, June 28, 2019 as
SHARON PLAYHOUSE DAY in the State of Connecticut
