We will be simplifying choices, increasing specificity, deepening truth and connection to given circumstance, exploring stillness versus movement, all while figuring out how to allow spontaneity and best play with the world’s least generous scene partner: The Wall. Participants will prepare and bring in one (or two!) contemporary monologues.

MASTER CLASS: The Shakespearean Monologue
Instructor: Andrus Nichols
Teen/Adult (15 and up)

It’s all in the text. Pretty much. We will be working on finding deeper personal connection to the material, specificity of thought, and using the architecture of the verse to help bring your authentic self to meet the size of the language and the height of the stakes. Find the freedom to be relaxed and unpredictable while telling the whole truth. You can use this class to tune-up your audition go-tos, or play around with something brand new. Participants will prepare and bring in one (or two!) monologues from Shakespeare’s plays.
