EMPLOYMENT
TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
The 2020 Summer season will include the playhouse premiere of SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN (June 12-28), Michael Berkeley’s DIVAS GO HOLLYWOOD (July 3-5), the classic Lerner & Loewe musical romance BRIGADOON (JULY 10-26), the international sensation MAMMA MIA (July 31-August 16) and the rock and roll hit MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET (August 21-September 6).
Qualifications:

Strong computer proficiency, specifically with Excel and drafting (AutoCAD/Vectorworks).

Applicant must be able to work both independently and as a crew leader.

Prior Technical Director experience is required.

Knowledge of carpentry, carpentry tools, lighting, sound and safe rigging practices
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Operate, maintain and safeguard technical assets of the theatre, including supervising the use of lighting, sound, communications equipment, and use and maintenance of stage facilities.

Coordinate and track Budget with Managing Director and Artistic Director.

Determine necessary technical support, such as lighting, sound, staging, and special needs, necessary for special events and performances presented at the facility in advance of production dates.

Advise scenic, lighting and sound designers on technical specifications, costs and usage of technical equipment required for each production, and supervise implementation of approved technical designs.

Act as Technical Director on all productions: bid, negotiate, and supervise outside scene shops; lead scenic install & modifications; provide maintenance during show runs; manage load-out/disposal/returns.

Supervise and assist with set and stage construction and management.

Assist in training and assignment of interns and/or paid technical staff.

Monitor condition of equipment; arrange for repair and replacement within budgetary constraints; perform preventive maintenance on equipment.

Attend production meetings and technical rehearsals, to supervise and assist in the technical aspects of the mounting each production.

Make recommendations to Playhouse leadership regarding capital purchases of technical equipment.

Participate in cross-departmental venue support to ensure overall success of event and venue operations.

Coordinate with Playhouse management on all facility and staff scheduling needs.

With the management team, organize, execute and maintain cleanliness of stage, shops/storage, and support areas, including buildings and grounds.

As a member of the senior technical staff, this position is involved with the training and mentorship of Sharon Playhouse interns with respect to your given area of expertise.
